George Nostrand

“A singer-songwriter through and through. Sit back on your porch and have a beer with some friends or cry in your beer at a lonely roadhouse bar. George will be right there with you with a story and a song to share.” – Rockin’ the Region, Dave Hoffenberg

Rutland, Vermont singer-songwriter George Nostrand just released his third studio album, with a new line-up called, Miss Guided Angels. The Miss Guided Angels album, “The One That Got Away,” is available online at iTunes, CD Baby and a number of other sites. Songs from the album have already received airplay on WFVR’s “Green Mountain Global” and VPR’s “All The Traditions” as well as  reviews by the Mountain Times and Rutland Herald.

Nostrand previously fronted his jam band, George’s Back Pocket and released a solo album (with 20 guest musicians), called Radio Songs in 2005. A fixture in the Rutland, Vermont area music scene, Nostrand is a writer for the Rutland Herald, has hosted numerous open mic nights, booked events for the Paramount Theatre and had his hands in many other projects. Cider Magazine recognized him with a lifetime achievement award in 2011, and he has opened for numerous national acts from Robert Randolph & The Family Band to members of the band Sister Hazel.

Recently, Nostrand’s song, “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow” was chosen as one of the best new songs of September 2018, by the blog County Tracks.

Nostrand has played from Brattleboro to Burlington in his home state of Vermont, but has also played across the country, from Florida to Alaska. His colloquial, story-telling style is relatable and popular across genres of folks, bluegrass, country and rock listeners. He has a long list of covers that’s been road tested in over a thousand gigs.
